A mother was recently almost kicked off her flight on Southwest Airlines in front of her seven year old son, after being told her outfit was in breach of their dress code.
Eve J Marie, who is also a playboy model and 'influencer', was flying from Dallas to Tulsa with the budget airline and said the experience left her ‘humiliated and embarrassed’.
“When they threatened to remove me off the plane if I didn’t have a change of clothes, I felt completely humiliated, embarrassed and highly offended”.
"I’m an A-list member for SWA and have a credit card with the airline and I have perks that allow any person travelling with me to fly free because of my high status with the airline. So even as being a loyal customer with them, I felt like the other women on the plane were judging me based on my attire and they were saying my breasts are too large”.
“Well, that’s something I can’t help.”
Ms Marie said she was alerted to the issue when an apologetic flight attendant came over to have a word, saying she would have to leave the flight unless she could change her clothes, as she was showing too much cleavage.
The flight was her second of the day, and there had been no issues for Eve or her son when boarding the previous flight.
Ms Marie's outfit before, and then after she was given a flight attendants jumper to cover up.
“The attendant herself apologised. This flight was my layover and the first flight said nothing, so if this was truly the policy then why was I not informed before I even boarded the first flight?”
After some discussion, and when Ms Marie told the airline she didn’t have a spare change of clothes with her, the attendant handed over her work jumper, which Ms Marie had to wear across her chest for the entirety of the flight.
Eve has said she asked the airline what the specific dress code breach was, and nobody was able to give her a clear answer. She was then advised to contact the airlines corporate office upon landing to discuss further.
The airline has since apologised, and offered Ms Marie a $100 voucher.
However, she feels it is not enough of an apology for the humiliation she faced.
“I was completely upset and embarrassed at how I was treated,” she said. “Nobody could tell me what exactly their ‘dress code policy’ was. I called corporate and they apologised and awarded me $100 flight credit”.
“In the end, $100 credit isn’t enough for the humiliation and discrimination I received on that flight. This all happened in front of my child. I was completely singled out for a policy none of the employees could explain.”

Ms Marie has said she flies regularly with the airline, and despite COVID has already been on over 30 flights this year. She even said she has worn the same outfit previously on several occasions with no problems.
She has publicly called out the airline on her social media accounts, saying “I would like better diversification training, a clear and fair dress code policy that is the same across all SWA flights, a public apology, and those responsible held accountable.”
This isn't the first time Southwest have come under fire for 'discriminatory' dress code rules: earlier this year another woman was almost kicked off a flight for a similar outfit, and was only allowed to fly after the Captain lent her his t-shirt for her to wear during the flight.
What do you think? I’m more of a leggings and cardigan girl when I fly – maybe I need to up my game!
