A Texas woman has died from COVID-19 during a flight after experiencing breathing difficulties as the plane waited for take-off on the tarmac.
The plane, which was set to take off from Arizona, was delayed as medical assistance was brought on board for the woman, who was only in her 30s.
However, reports show the woman did have underlying health issues which may have contributed to her condition. It seems the woman picked up the virus in Arizona, and may not have even known she was carrying the virus before becoming unwell.
After being given oxygen on the flight, she unfortunately did not respond to treatment and died while still on the tarmac.
Local authorities admitted they didn’t know much about the situation at a recent press conference.
“We don’t know a whole lot. We may not know if she was aware she was sick” said Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. He went further to say that the situation serves as a timely ‘reminder that there is no age restriction in COVID’.
The news comes as the US clocks over 8 million cases, and over 200,000 deaths due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
