VIDEO: German Theme Park Built in Nuclear Power Plant

Perhaps the world’s most unique setting for a theme park, this abandoned nuclear reactor in Germany is now home to more than 40 rides and attractions, and also offers free food and drink to patrons (well, it's not free, but it's included in the ticket price).

Originally built in the year before the infamous ‘Chernobyl’ disaster, one of the worst nuclear disasters in history, the plant became abandoned after protests were staged, calling for an end to nuclear power.

The plant was never actually used, and was purchased in 1991by Dutch investor Hennie van der Most, who then turned the space into a theme park in 2001.

The park, called ‘Wunderland Kalkar’, is located near the border between Germany and the Netherlands and features a Ferris Wheel, go-kart tracks, spinning teacups and rollercoasters.

The most popular ride is a 58-metre-high swing ride, which has been built into the stations cooling tower. The outside of the cooling tower is also used for a rock climbing attraction experience.

All food and drink is included in the ticket price, making it a great destination for families, and the park also has six hotels on site.

Around 300,000 people visit the park every year.

Recently, a new documentary was released showing the crazy details of 'Action Park', a theme park in New Jersey that was responsible for at least six deaths and countless injuries.
