Daniel Andrews isn’t happy – even though Melbourne has reported single-case numbers of the ‘rona for the last few days.
Recently, the implementation of an AUS/NZ travel bubble saw several Kiwi’s sneak into other states such as Victoria, WA and Tasmania.
Although the original travel bubble was set up between NSW, the NT and NZ, there are now around 65 Kiwi’s in Victoria, which has caused a bit of a fight between governments.
Although the Victorian Government website clearly states that there’s no issue with New Zealanders (or anyone for that matter)entering Victoria, Daniel Andrews still seems to be a bit put out by the whole situation.
"We are not particularly pleased that we were asked the question, do you want to be in a bubble, and it turns out that even though we said no, we are, but that is the fact of the matter, that is what we faced. It seems like the bubble applies to every part of our country, not just those that said yes. We can't change that” he said recently.
He went on to add that ‘it is not ideal that people turn up in your state from another country without you knowing about it’, and that Victoria was now a part of the trans-Tasman bubble ‘whether we agree to it or not’.

Since their arrival, 55 of the 65 New Zealanders in Victoria have been ‘doorknocked’ by authorities, so that everyone is clear on the current restrictions.
"We have just taken them through all the different rules that are in place just to update them, make sure that they know what is going on," Mr Andrews said.
Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said that Victoria was present at the discussions and well aware of the situation, however Daniel Andrews denies the state had ever agreed to be a part of the bubble.
"I think it is completely unreasonable, completely unreasonable to be putting it to me that somehow it's my fault or the Victorian Government's fault, that when you are invited to participate in an arrangement and you say no, that somehow people turn up” he said.

Passengers arriving into Sydney late last week.
Today, there will be 17 domestic flights flying from Sydney to Melbourne, some of which may be carrying more New Zealand passengers.
There are also now 23 Kiwi’s in hotel quarantine in Perth. Western Australia also declined to be a part of the bubble; however, they already had protocol in place to restrict movement for any new arrivals.
New Zealanders have also found their way into Tasmania and South Australia.
