Twiggy Forrest Gives Hugh Jackman The Boot - Last Chance to Win Trip on the Ghan

Australian mining magnate and philanthropist Andrew "Twiggy" Forrest has purchased iconic R.M.Williams for $190 million.

The famous Australian boot maker, founded by Reginald Murray Williams in 1932 fell into the hands of luxury brand Louis Vuitton, private equity firm L Catterton, and Australian actor Hugh Jackman.

The owners had been seeking to offload R.M.Williams for $400 - $500 million since May 2019. Hugh Jackman reportedly received $10 million for his stake in the business.

Hugh remains brand ambassador, and recently starred in a cheeky commercial where his is wearing literally nothing but the R.M. Williams boots.

The boots are still made by hand in South Australia.

According to the R.M. Williams website "every leather sole is stamped in gold with our cursive script and iconic Longhorn logo. The Signature Craftsman made from the finest French veal calf leather goes an extra step with a fine brass plaque and the personal signature of the R.M.Williams Master Craftsman - our most senior boot maker. It’s the ultimate seal of approval."

“In this workshop, we work with the natural character of the leather. Human hands are the best tools we have, and we don’t make boots; we craft them. I feel privileged every single time I get to sign a pair of R.M.Williams boots.”Steve, Master Craftsman, 27 years at RMW.

"Made to Order" boots are also available in store at Adelaide.

R.M.Williams is currently running a competition to win a cabin on The Ghan from Adelaide to Darwin.

"Departing from Adelaide, this three day, two night, 2979km all-inclusive journey will take you to some of the most remote and captivating parts of Australia in style and comfort. Your adventure through the country’s vast, varied landscape will leave you speechless. It’s the ultimate Australian outback experience."

Competition closes 1 November 2020.
