Everyone is desperate for a holiday right now, though with strict border closures and chaos overseas our options right now are limited.
Bali has always had a special place in Western Australians hearts, as the cheap island destination is only a quick (and usually very cheap!) flight away.
Don’t worry, we’ve got you – until we can get away like we all want to, here are a few of our top picks for a ‘Bali-style escape*’, all without leaving the state.

Bali Hai Resort & Spa, Cable Beach, Broome

The stunning, four-star Bali Hai Resort is located a short walk away from the stunning Cable Beach, and features self-contained studios and villas, a day spa, large pool, outdoor showers and tropical garden settings.

Bali at Avalon

Just an hour south of Perth, this Balinese style bed and breakfast is tucked away on the coast just south of Mandurah.
Only a short stroll from the beach, the property features relaxed but luxurious accommodation set among lush tropical gardens. A great place to explore the nearby beaches, watch the sunset over the ocean or just kick back with a cocktail and relax by the (heated) pool.
A stay here starts from $150 a night in low season to $180in high season, but there are lots of specials and discounts available for multiple night bookings etc.
Albany Bali Style

In the south of the state, the Albany Bali Style resort overlooks the pristine Princess Royal Harbour and is just a five-minute drive from the Albany township.
Set along the main tourist drive, all the apartments are Balinese in style, featuring a fully equipped kitchen. Some feature hot tubs and ocean views.
With old growth wooden floors, spacious ceilings and a relaxed vibe, this cool property feels more like a really cool Bali hostel, complete with surfboards, hammocks and plenty of colour.

Riveresque

The gorgeous Margaret River region has become quite the hotspot for tourists lately, with a new airport opening and plenty of great press.
Riveresque is a luxury Balinese-inspired, self contained chalet located just a give minute drive from the Margaret River township, set close to the beach and amidst some of the many wineries that make up the famous wine region.
The self-contained villa features a balcony, outdoor shower and a two person spa-bath. Guests can book in-house massages (very Bali) and enjoy the surrounding tropical gardens, which are teeming with local wildlife, with a cocktail in hand.

Rendezvous Hotel Perth Scarborough

If you don’t want to stray too far from the city, spend a few nights at the Rendezvous Hotel in Scarborough.
Scarborough is one of Perth’s coolest suburbs, and the ideal way to get out of the city…without really getting out of the city.
Situated almost right on the beautiful beach and overlooking the Indian Ocean, this property is more reminiscent of a luxe Bali resort, with lagoon-style pools and airy, modern rooms.
The resort also features tennis courts, a gym, a fully equipped games room and the award winning Vanilla Face + Body Spa. It’s also super close to all the bars, restaurants and shops Scarborough has to offer.
Just a 25-minute drive from Perth city centre, this one will set you back around $219 a night for an entry level room.

Cable Beach Club Resort and Spa, Broome

Another one for beautiful Broome, this resort overlooks the iconic Cable Beach, set amongst lush tropical gardens full of tranquil water features. There is even a special garden called The Buddha Sanctuary, featuring a giant crystal Buddha and perfect for relaxing and meditation.
There are also two pools – one for adults only, with a poolside bar (very Bali) and a family one; four restaurants serving delicious Asian fusion cuisine, mini golf, tennis courts, a gym and the amazing Chahoya Spa by L’Occitane, where visitors can get all manner of massage and spa treatments.
Room types include studios, bungalows, villas and suites and are all designed with a luxurious, Balinese-inspired feel.
