South Australia has today announced it will be re-opening its border with Victoria within the next few weeks, removing all quarantine requirements for travellers from the eastern state.
Victoria is the last Australian state for which SA is removing border restrictions, with all other Australian states no longer needing to quarantine or self-isolate upon arrival.SA Premier Steven Marshall said in a statement:
"I am very pleased to announce that, as of December the first, we'll be lifting the border with Victoria. This will be a huge relief to people as we head into December".
He also added that although the border restrictions represented SA’s ‘first line of defence’, the state never wanted to keep restrictions in place any longer than necessary.
Tasmania announced earlier this week that they would also be opening up to Victoria, prompting both Jetstar and Qantas to resume their flight schedules between Melbourne and Tassie in time for Christmas.
The border between Victoria and Tasmania is set to lift as of the 27th November.

Jetstar have announced they will resume flights between Melbourne and Launceston with 19 weekly services, and between Melbourne and Hobart with 26 weekly services (up from only 5 services in the months prior).
Qantas will be resuming flights on three different routes, with14 weekly services between Melbourne and Launceston, 13 between Melbourne and Hobart and 12 between Melbourne and Devonport.
Qantas have also announced they will be reopening their Club Lounge in Hobart, and their regional lounges in Devonport and Launceston from the 2nd December.
Jetstar Group CEO Gareth Evans said of the decision:
“The announcement from the Tasmanian Government is great news and a significant step forward in Australia’s recovery. We’re excited to add more flights between Tasmania and Victoria, helping to reconnect families and friends after months of being apart”.
