Sleep at the Great Barrier Reef with this Underwater Hotel

Billed as "Australia’s first underwater accommodation", Reef Suites by Cruise Whitsundays let you spend the night at the Great Barrier Reef.

Reefworld is moored at Hardy Reef, 40 nautical miles from Airlie Beach. Built from a revamped pontoon, it has been offering overnight stays since late 2019.

Guests arrive around 11am after a short cruise through the Whitsunday Islands. After lunch, you can swim or snorkel on the reef, or scuba dive with the certified instructors.

Day trippers say goodbye in the afternoon, leaving the lucky overnight guests to enjoy the reef to themselves.

Kick back on the upper decks with a few after dinner drinks, before heading downstairs to enjoy the view through the bedroom's floor-to-ceiling windows. Fancy a loo with a view? Even the ensuite has a glass wall.
