Premier Daniel Andrews want Victorians to ‘get on the beers’ in regional Vic, offering residents the chance to snag one of 120,000 vouchers worth $200 each.
The plan is to stimulate the devastated tourism economy, and the vouchers are part of a of $465 million tourism package announced ahead of next week’s state budget. Under the promotion, Victorians will qualify for their $200 voucher when they spend at least $400 on any accommodation, tours or attractions in regional Victoria.
In the announcement, Daniel Andrews also shared that the budget, due to be delivered next Tuesday, will be providing almost $150 million to build new visitor accommodation, improve major tourist trails and attractions and promote regional tourism.
"Whether it's a day trip with the family or a tour along our stunning coast, we're helping more people get out and enjoy the best Victoria has to offer" said the Premier. "This funding will help tourism businesses bounce back from the challenges of this year – welcoming more visitors and employing more Victorians".
The announcement comes after similar schemes were successful in other states, such as Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. It is believed that the vouchers will be made available sometime in December - stay tuned!
