First we had classic USA news, as a man attempted to take several guns into Disney World, 'to protect his family'.
Now, we have news that almost couldn’t be more quintessentially Japanese. A new, jaw-dropping (pun intended) attraction has opened up on the beautiful Awaji Island, just south of Osaka, at the popular Nijigen no Mori anime park.
A 390-footzipline has just been installed, where riders can travel directly from the platform into Godzilla’s open mouth.
Although one website has described the attraction as a ‘fitting metaphor for 2020’, we think this actually looks way more fun than this crazy year has been.
The ‘kaiju-themed’ area of the park (‘kaiji’ is a Japanese umbrella term for giant monsters – in Australia, we just call that wildlife) is designed as a ‘mission’ of sorts, where visitors need to complete tasks along the way.
The final task is jumping on a zipline and gliding into Godzilla’s open jaws (apparently giant monsters don’t need to wear masks).
The attraction is part of a new museum dedicated to the creature, and features hundreds of figurines, props and other memorabilia. There are even some monster-themed snacks available.

Several funny videos of locals trying the new ride have emerged – some of them are pretty hilarious! Would you give it a go?
