Theme Park Worker dies after falling from World's Tallest Swing Ride

A theme park worker has died after falling from the 450 foot tall (137 metres) Starflyer swing ride at ICON Park in Florida.

The 21-year-old was climbing the tower to conduct a safety check when he fell.

At 450 feet, The Starflyer ride is the world's tallest swing ride. Riders sit in a suspended seat while it swings around a pole, reaching up to 72 kph.

As reported by Fox35, Director of Sales and Marketing John Stein, said

"It's a shock and we're saddened by it, anytime there is an injury or something of this nature. It's extremely sad. But we're holding up and supporting each other,"

He added that the ride undergoes daily maintenance and safety inspections.

The incident is being investigated by the local Sheriff's Office and will remain closed while the investigation takes place.
