Emirates and Liam Neeson to Raise Awareness of Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is the fastest growing and second largest criminal industry in the world, and the new short film “What is Human Trafficking?” is designed to educate the public about the reality of human trafficking and exploitation.

Emirates is showing the film, starring Liam Neeson, on all flights from October. It is hoped that with greater public awareness, more cases can be identified, reported and also rescued.

Liam Neeson is famous for his recurring role in the "Taken" series of movies, where he portrays a former CIA agent who tracks down his daughter and her best friend after they are abducted by human traffickers while on vacation.

As well as educating the public, Emirates staff also work with authorities directly. Their Dubai staff undergo training on how to spot human traffickers while checking travel documents and through customer profiling.

The International Labour Organization estimated that in 2017 there were 24.9 million people trafficked world-wide, of which 75% are women and children.
