Byron Bay model and social media influencer, Ruby Tuesday Matthews, has hit back at passengers after she was heckled for holding up the packed Jetstar flight from taking off.
The Jetstar flight from Byron Bay to Sydney was meant to depart at 5pm, but a technical issue pushed the takeoff to 7:45pm.
Rather than wait at the airport, as instructed by a loudspeaker announcement, her & a friend went to have oysters at a beachside restaurant.
While at dinner, she posted an instagram story of the oyster dinner with the caption "Flight delayed F##k my life".
Jetstar was able to fix the plane earlier than expected, and the takeoff was moved forward to 6:20pm. An announcement was made at the airport, but once the other passengers had been waiting on board past the 6:20pm takeoff time, a Jetstar representative called Ms. Matthews.
Ruby and her friend boarded at 6:50pm, and it seems that some of the passengers had been tipped off who the late people were, because they already knew about her dinner.
"How were the oysters?" yelled a woman.
"It's a good day to be pretty" said a man.
Another passenger asked if the oysters were good, and Ruby relied that "Yes, they were".
A few other passengers had a go at her for leaving the airport, when they had been instructed to stay. Ruby responded that she had not heard that announcement - that she had made an innocent mistake and that they were being rude.
She was not the only person to leave the airport - another passenger boarded the plane after Ruby, though passengers did not heckle her.
After getting off at Sydney, Ruby shared her ordeal with her Instagram followers.
"I had a pretty traumatic flight experience, thanks Jetstar, you never cease to amaze me,"
"I'm sorry but it really was not my fault...we were told it was going to be taking off at 7.45pm, I had not eaten since my smoothie that morning because I had been in back-to-back meetings. "
"I was like ''f### this, I'm going to get food out of the airport, it's two hours until our flight takes off, I'm going to go"
"I walked out, I did not hear the second announcement that apparently said ''do not leave the airport''.'I didn't hear that, I swear to god, I wouldn't have left the airport, I'm not a d***head, I do have respect for everyone else."
