The Real Karen From Briiighton (aka Jodi Grollo) has shared "a real coffee" - (from a cup!) and the taste of freedom at Nobby Beach in Queensland.
Nobby Beach isn't exactly known for its coffee so it must be the freedom that makes it taste so goood.
For the uninitiated, Jodi Grollo shot to fame after appearing on channel 9 news in Melbourne one fateful night in July this year.
Jodi was interviewed as one of hundreds walking around The Tan - Melbourne's Botanical Gardens, during lockdown. It was questionable at the time whether the walk was a little too far from home. Jodi explained / complained (depending on your point of view) on air that " you get sick of walking the same streets. I've done all of Brighton."
Premier Daniel Andrews quipped back in a press conference that "it was better to be bored than in intensive care". Jodi was quickly labelled "Karen from Brighton" by media and a star was born.
She ( or her son, apparently) created an instagram account "therealkarenfrombriiighton" which became a social media sensation and now has 14.5K followers.
The instagram account is a hilarious send up of her Karen persona, the dullness of lockdown in Melbourne, and of Premier Daniel Andrews. Until the day Karen/Jodi announced to the world, via song, that she had had enough.
Sipping from a Victoria Bitter she told her followers that she could take the amnesia/incompetence on display by politicians and public servants at the Inquiry into the Hotel Quarantine debacle no more. "I'm done".
She said she was moving to Howard Springs in the NT in a bid for freedom, and true to her word, she did.
It seems her quarantine period in the NT is over, and Karen from Brighton is now Karen on the Gold Coast, enjoying her freedom, mask free.
