Fires have been ravaging the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro for seven days now, as local volunteers battle to control the blaze. Helicopters were deployed for the first time yesterday to help contain the fires.
The fire started on Sunday, and although still under investigation, it is thought the fire was accidentally started by porters warming food for visitors, at the Whona rest area. There have been no deaths as yet
Tanzania has remained open to tourists, declaring itself COVID - 19 free five months ago.
#mtkilimanjaro which is Africa's pride is on fire, all this is happening before our eyes.
